German comfort level standards for electrical systems

The DIN system is a simple identification system that consists of 3 different comfort levels we can use when it comes to designing our building’s electrical system:

  • Comfort level 1: * Minimum
  • Comfort level 2: ** Standard
  • Comfort level 3: *** Comfort

The DIN Standards 18015-2 defines the following minimum requirements:

  • the number of circuits depending on the size of the living space
  • the sockets and the connections that need to be installed, such as ventilation or lighting
  • the number of connections for consumers with their own circuits
